Hello to the list :>)

I thought I'd respond via the list, rather than privately, as requested, so we might find other help with these families. I'm new in the ranks, but generally try to watch. Seeing the following post, I thought I might help a tad.

Avery GRAZEBROOK was b. @1530 in Middleton; he d. in March 1576

Elizabeth, I descend from these families. Among my records I have:

Genealogical Gleanings in England, Henry F. Waters, 1907, v.1, pgs 153,154,155,809:

Margaret is given as d/o Margaret Keene Grazebrook. Margaret was given as "relict and executrix" of husband Henry Sewall, Sr.'s will, p/d last of Jun 1628, Coventry, Warwickshire, ENG. He had two sons and two married daughters at his will date, 1 Sep 1624. One was daughter "Margaret", married to Abraham Randell at this time. This Henry Sewall, Sr. was s/o William "Shewell" and Matilda Horne: Waters, v.1, p 155. The Cleveland Genealogy below, says Henry was b 1544, was alderman of Coventry, and twice mayor of Coventry, 1589, 1606. He was alinen draper.

The Genealogy of the Cleveland and Cleaveland Families, Edmund Janes Cleveland and Horace Gillette Cleveland, 1899, v.1, pg 109: Henry Sewall info above, plus Margaret's father was Avery Grazebrook, and that she m Henry Sewall. (no date given).

This particular Margaret, d/o Avery, didn't die until after the June probate date of her husband, and their eldest son, Henry, Jr, was christened 8 Apr 1576, making the date of marriage you mention (1587) for Margaret Grazebrook to William Sewall incorrect for this lady. I believe the Margaret who married William is someone else, not d/o Avery.

I have no reliable information on Grazebrook above Margaret and Avery. Some think the Grazebrook surname may be Gresbrok/e; de Gresbrok/e, farther upline.

I'm posting to the group, rather than emailing you, as you asked, in the hope that someone may be able to help. Corrections and additions are welcome.

To those in the list, we Sewall-Grazebrook's thank you for your help.

Forever hunting, Billye D. Jackson, coffey@viptx.net
